If you suspect or know your child has a learning disorder but he or she does not yet have an IEP, you may need us if:
- Your school has refused to assess your child;
- Your school assessed your child but determined he or she was ineligible for an IEP or special education supports;
- Your child is excessively absent from school due to his or her disability or illness and the school still refuses to assess;
- The school ignores a medical diagnosis in refusing to evaluate;
- Your child is retained or under threat of retention and they still won’t evaluate;
- The school told you it is your responsibility to pay to have your child evaluated or to receive a medical diagnosis;
- Your school failed to conduct an evaluation despite a “reason to believe” your child had an educational impairment;
- Your child is involved with the Juvenile Justice system and still the school refuses to evaluate;
- Your school refused to consider an independent educational evaluation you commissioned at your own expense or other medical records, letters or reports;
- Your school assessed your child but not in all suspected areas of disability; or
- Your school assessed your child, but put her on a 504 Plan instead of an IEP. (IEPs are much better for your child than a 504 Plan in 99% of the cases!)
