Raymundo G. S. Mendoza received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1983 and his Juris Doctorate Degree from Hastings College of the Law in 1986. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1986. He is also admitted to practice law before the Federal Court, Northern District of California, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
In 1987 he was sworn in as a Deputy District Attorney for Santa Clara County, where he served in the Misdemeanor, Juvenile Gang, Homicide, Special Operations, Sexual Assault, General Felonies, Narcotics, and Community Prosecution Units. He also supervised the General Felony Trial Team and Sexual Assault Team.
Before retiring in October 2015 from the District Attorney’s Office, Ray served his final six years as the Chief Trial Deputy. As Chief Trial Deputy, he oversaw the Mental Health Calendar, Felony Trial Calendar, served on the Homicide on Call Unit, Officer Involved Shootings (OIS), In Custody Deaths, Death Penalty Review and Superior Court Case Reduction Committees. He has tried to verdict over a hundred cases before the Superior Court.
Ray has also served on the Board for Eastfield Ming Quong (now Uplift), a mental health provider to children, and The Salvation Army. He has taught trial practice courses at Santa Clara University Law School and has provided trial instruction for the National District Attorneys Association.
